The following was submitted by Brad L. Bettenhausen, President of the Tinley Park Historical Society.

   This deed shows a transfer from Magarethe Schmidt, widow of Fredrich Schmidt, owner of the property surrounding Bachelors Grove cemetery, to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, Illinois. Although this deed shows ownership of the property surrounding the cemetery, the cemetery itself was excluded as part of the sale and still retained ownership to Edward M. Everden. Originally during the sale from Edward M. Everden to Fredrich Schmidt it was agreed that the cemetery was excluded.

   Today, the property surrounding the cemetery is now owned by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, Illinois. In 1976, through the process of condemnation, ownership of the cemetery is now in the hands of the Land Management Office of Cook County, Illinois.
