- Mitchell map of 1904 -

Although there are no records that show a house ever being built near Batchelors Grove cemetery, there are in fact at least two known from their remains. However, besides the remains, this map now provides us with a more stable record that two homes did exist back in 1904 west of the cemetery. Back in the old days when a person purchased land they also would build their home close to a road as well as near the corner of their lot to allow space for activities such as farming. When maps such as this one were created they also decided to include the indications of a home. Being as how there were very few homes compared to today's population, this allowed and served as a convenience to those traveling through the area.
