The following is an aerial view of Batchelor's Grove cemetery captured from an airplane on April 4th 1939. You can still see the cemetery before it was overgrown with trees as well as a portion of the Midlothian Turnpike still in use. The importance of this photograph is that you are able to experience what the area used to look like before the section of roadway between 143rd Street and Ridgeland Avenue was closed to vehicle traffic. This particular section which was closed off is part of what is now considered the "trail" used to gain access to the cemetery from 143rd Street across from the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve entrance. |

The "C" denotes the location of the cemetery.
