John Fulton and Jane Johnson, both born in Ireland in 1813, married in Ireland and came to the United States in 1839. In 1844 they came to Bremen Township and purchased 80 acres of woodland in the Bachelors Grove Settlement. Here they reared a family of 14 children. John Fulton increased his holdings until at the time of his death (1883) he owned more than 1000 acres. Jane Fulton died in 1897 and both were buried in Bachelors Grove Cemetery. |
