The following was submitted by Steve and David Schmidt, ancestors of the Schmidt family.
The photograph dates back to the 1890s.

Although the surrounding area in this photo is not saturated by trees like it is today near
Batchelors Grove cemetery, remember that a lot of the trees today did not exist back then.

Relatives of the Schmidt family state that this photograph shows the children of Fredrich and Margarethe Schmidt. It is said that the house located behind them in this photograph is the home they lived in at Batchelors Grove. Evidence leans towards this house being one of the two homes a short distance West of Batchelors Grove cemetery. Do note that the second home has not yet been verified but it is very likely that a second home was used given the size of the family. If the evidence of two homes being used is correct then it would help clarify why the remains of the two homes are so close to each other.
