Haunting Tales Of Bachelor's Grove Vs The Heap

Lets have David C. Hayes say it in his own worlds.

Welcome to the Kickstarter for The Haunting Tales of Bachelor’s Grove vs The Heap! This is a one-shot comic starring that shambling muck monster, The Heap, as he takes on the haunted, twisted and evil Bachelor’s Grove cemetery in creepy Midlothian, IL. Thank you for joining us here. My name is David C. Hayes and I am the writer of this current tale. The artistic duties were handled by Mr. Kurt Belcher. He and I have collaborated on many things, most notably Rottentail (the comic that graduated to movie status) and this is our current offering. It’s a pretty personal one for me. You see, I like monsters. Specifically, swamp monsters.

Man-Thing, Swamp Thing, It… there have been many and all of them really appeal to me. The darkness inside of what used to be a man, thirsting for justice… by design, there is something primal there. I knew that the chances of me getting to script one of those guys was slim, so I went old school. The Heap began his monstrous existence in the 1940s in the pages of Airboy comics. A World War I pilot, Baron Eichelmann, crashed into a Polish marsh. What emerged was the prototypical muck monster, The Heap! A thirst for justice propelled the character into adventures with Airboy, then the Skywald magazines, a brief stint in the pages of Spawn and now, here, today.

There are quite a few stretch goals and fun prizes that this Kickstarter has, but what we really want to do is get The Heap into the hands of funnybook fans one more time. There are still a lot of stories left in what used to be a human being, and we want to tell them.

This is the first step. Welcome, dear reader, to The Heap!

If you are here, you may have enjoyed...

  • Cool comic books that were printed in the area of EC Comics.
  • Horror movies from the 50's and 60's and 70's.
  • TV horror hosts, creature features, Thriller, The Veil, Night Gallery and nostalgia from the early days of fright.
We believe you will enjoy THE HAUNTING TAILS OF BACHELOR'S GROVE vs THE HEAP!

Should parents have age concerns and ask, can my child read this? WE SAY YES! Our horror is similar to the content of the comics done in the 50s (our hero's heyday).

The art is very stylized. Kurt was the perfect man for the job. The book is COMPLETE, we are looking for printing funds.
Just take a look a one of the pages below.

Risks and challenges

Silver Phoenix has been publishing comic books for 13 years. We have delivered many issues through Kickstarter over the last several years, too. Since we are experienced in printing, we do not see a major issue in getting the rewards into your hands upon success completion of the campaign.
