Robert Fulton - White marble stone, stone off its base and damaged. Stone read by Bremen HS {son of John Sr.; Birth: March 8, 1854 Was supposedly hit by Rock Island train near new Bremen, now Tinley Park}

Joseph Fulton - Mention in "Pioneers In Peaceful Rest" "Near the entrance to the cemetery are the older monuments of John Fulton and descendants. John was a brother of Hamilton. There carved on a large white obelisk is the name 'Joseph Fulton, Died 15 Oct 1852 at the age of 80'." {father of Hamilton & John Fulton Sr.} Per undated map at Midlothian Library. Mr. Cague Jr. was also the first Postmaster in the town of Bremen in 1847, before the office was removed to the village, where it is now located. The father of Frederick Kammeck, who is now the village butcher, came in 1852; John Fulton, Robert Aston, the first Town Clerk, Patrick Hopkins, and Dr. Ballard,the first merchant in the village, were also among the early settlers.

 


 

The following was extracted from Where The Trails Cross - Volume 7:1 Fall 1976

 

John Fulton and Jane Johnson, both born in Ireland in 1813, married in Ireland and came to the United States in 1839. In 1844 they came to Bremen Township and purchased 80  acres of woodland in the Bachelors Grove Settlement. Here they reared a family of 14 children. John Fulton increased his holdings until at the time of his death (1883) he owned more than 1000 acres. Jane Fulton died in 1897 and both were buried in Bachelors Grove Cemetery.
