April 21, 2013 - Earth Day Clean-Up & Restoration

In celebration of Earth Day a restoration event will take place on Sunday, April 21st between 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. The efforts will consist of removing litter and cutting brush along the path near the entrance of the cemetery. All volunteers will initially meet at the Rubio Woods parking lot between 10:00 A.M. and 10:15 A.M. where all necessary tools will be provided. If you have a favorite pair of gloves feel free to bring them along.

Please note, a portion of the path leading to the cemetery may be temporarily closed off to the general public for safety reasons due to performing a brush-pile burn. Volunteers arriving after 10:15 A.M. should meet at the cemetery itself and ask to see a coordinator upon arrival. For directions to the site please visit the Direction Page for assistance.

ATTENTION: This may be the last clean-up for the outside perimeter of the cemetery due to some changes made by the Forest Preserve District. Your attendance for this particular event is critical in order to show that there truly is an interest in helping to restore, preserve and beautify the area. At this point in time all future permits to help maintain the area surrounding the cemetery are on hold to ALL members of the public and the Grove Restoration Project. The 21st may very well be our last day if there is a lack of attendance and support.

We are asking all volunteers and other members of the public to make a simple phone call to the Forest Preserve District at 1-800-870-3666 to voice your support for future maintenance to the cemetery and its surrounding area. Please ask to speak with Arnold Randall or his assistant Michael Murnane. If they are not available simply leave a short voice-mail message and let them know you support the Grove Restoration Project and all of the hard work that many of the volunteers have donated for over 10 years.

See you all on the 21st and be sure to make a phone call even if you attend!
