November 28, 2010 - Bachelors Grove Prairie Restoration

Restoration activities will take place at Bachelors Grove Prairie on Sunday, November 28th, between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. All volunteers will be meeting at the Bur Oak Woods parking lot at 9:00 A.M. and all necessary tools will be provided. A brush-pile burn will also take place so everyone will have the opportunity to stay warm while enjoying the outdoors this time of year. For directions to the prairie you may visit the Directions page for assistance.

Beautification efforts through the Adopt-A-Site program were a success earlier this month out at Bachelors Grove cemetery. About 1/3 of the invasive vegetation was removed near the south end of the pond and most of the previous brush-piles were disposed of. All of the volunteers did a wonderful job and it was certainly exciting to meet another family member of those buried at the cemetery!

There is still a fair amount of work that needs to be completed and we look forward to performing another brush-pile burn next month. The December burn will only be focused upon what still remains on the ground so the amount of cutting will be minimal.

See you all on the 28th!
