More Facts About Cemetery

Blue Island Sun-Standard
August 30, 1935

Since publication of the article concerning the visit made to Bachelor's Grove cemetery serveral interesting items concerning the founding of that cemetery have come to light. This week relatives of Edward M. Everdin, the original holder of the property in that vicinity came into the Sun-Standard office with a record book revealing that Everdin had sold the land to Frederick Schmidt and at the time of the sale there was a notation excepting "one acre used as a grave yard" revealing that at least a portion of Bachelor's Grove cemetery was in existance before the Schmidt ownership and never had been officially included as the Schmidt farm.

Several weeks ago Mrs. Ed. Suhs, granddaughter of Frederick Schmidt called at this office to tell us concerning a donation of land made by Frederick Schmidt towards the cemetery. Relatives of Mr. Everdin wish it to be made plain that the one acre or so of original cemetery was in existance prior to the Schmidt ownership.
