Five People Were Killed

Chicago Englewood Times
July 29, 1921

Five people were killed in an automobile accident at the grade crossing at Vincennes ave. and 90th st. last Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Niklas, 1153 47th place, and Mr Michael Kleeman, 5805 Union ave., and two children, Lillian and Jeanette, were enjoying an evening ride. The machine tried to cross the B. & O. tracks ahead of a freight train and was stalled on the tracks. The crossing flagman, Mr. Jacob Wilhelm, 7631 Union ave., signaled the occupants to stop. But thinking there was still time the driver hastened on, and another big toll was paid for carelessness.
